It is positively infamous. For the first time since the foolish new times began, I manage to see the last episode of a Doctor Who adventure (16 March BBC1) - only to see one of his companions killed, which surely has never happened before. I wish to protest.

Fitting silence
... Poor Adric, blown up by a Cyberman's home-made bomb attempting to save the dinosaurs from extinction. It was only fitting that the credits were rolled in silence and I, like many other loyal fans, mourn his passing.

Irresponsible
Which irresponsible idiot had the idea of allowing the Cybermen in the 15 March episode of Doctor Who to walk about with plastic bags on their heads? Don't you realise how much children who watch these programmes like to copy them when the show is over?

Adric was not the first companion to die in Doctor Who. Katarina (Adrienne Hill) died in December 1965 and Sara Kingdom (Jean Marsh) in 1966.
I accept Ms Davy's point about safety. Children should not play with plastic bags-or even unsealed plastic sheeting as was used in the Cyberman story Earthshock.
