Fans mock new Time Lord's sonic 'sex toy'

DOCTOR Who fans reckon the show's re-designed sonic screwdriver is a bit time-lewd — as it resembles a sex toy.

The multi-function device has been given a new look for the first female Doctor.

It was unveiled this week in a campaign to introduce Jodie Whittaker as the 13th Time Lord.

But its soft, smooth curves have left many sniggering that it looks just like a vibrator.

Giorgiana Izvercian posted online: "More like sonic screw-dildo." Another said: "Nice to see I'm not the only one thinking ...#sextoy." Frederik Egger tweeted: "I bet it has three settings." Michael Ries replied: "Yeah.. slow .. fast .. and exterminate!!"

Stacy Embry commented: "Truly an unfortunate design.

"It's more something in a night-stand than a Tardis."

And Darren Greenidge remarked: "You'd think the BBC would have noticed and asked for a redesign being a family show."

The sonic screwdriver first appeared in 1968 and is a popular part of the BBC show.

An official replica has already gone on sale for £14.99.

Ex-Broadchurch star Jodie, 36, is to make her debut in October. hanrcah.hopegthe-sun.co.uk
