[edit]

In the Doctor Who series opener The Magician's Apprentice (19 September BBC1) Steven Moffat's writing was the best to date, Hettie Macdonald's cinematic direction dazzled, Peter Capaldi delivered his best performance yet and Michelle Gomez was pure dynamite. Yet this story belonged to Julian Bleach as Davros, my all-time favourite Doctor Who enemy. All hail!
